Dear General Director Michele Vianello,
I’m writing to you after the deadline of the competition for broadband start-up as seen at VEGA Scientific Park you represent (see http://bit.ly/h89Lmy). I’m writing in my broken English to let more people understand what still happens here in Italy about startups. You know how much I considered your job so far and I’ll be very concise.
I requested to cancel from the final race of the competition and the reason is that I don’t really realize the scope of the initiative. You had collected several ideas for startups at VEGA incubator, you asked people in Facebook to vote them and you called it “competition”. Competition about what? That was my question. And the official answer was: for a MacBook Air, eventually. (I don’t want to go on details about the mysterious stop and re-go from zero you made in the middle of the competition, probably someone voting themselves... sad).
On my side, I don’t need anything of that.
I’ll tell what I would need instead:
I need my early research and business activities supported by Public Sectors AND Private Investors together;
I need an Ethic Industrial Ecosystem where can subsist a true New Economy and Policy of Investments;
I need Economical Sustainable Models (read investments) from the very beginning.
And I need all three together too. So for my idea I expected at least to have a board of public and private investors aiming to invest in innovative global projects as Green Prefab* is. Some investors with some budget already on hand and with an Industrial Ecosystem behind them ready to venture in order to relaunch the local economy. Not my friends voting me in Facebook, with no clear perspective on what’s going on. And the perspective has to be clear and shared from the starting point.
But that’s still a dream in Italy. Hey people out there, do anyone want to change Italy?
Frankly,
Furio Barzon
