MAIN.REIM means: “MANAGEMENT of innovation for NETWORKS OF ENTERPRISES”.
The project was promoted by VEGA in partnership with the two Universities of Venice and four businesses operating in Veneto; it is designed to create a 2.0 web-based platform to match the offer of competences from the university and research world, with the demand from the entrepreneurial sector.
The platform will be managed by an Innovation Team (the I-Team) charged with the identification and management of supply and demand concerning innovation.
The project is co-funded by the Government of the Veneto Region in compliance with the regional law no. 9/2007, “Regional strategic plan for scientific research, technological development and innovation 2008/2010” – Phase 2 of the 2008 Notice of competition.
The target is to test a knowledge management service to produce innovation within the networks of enterprises, and by establishing a multi-disciplinary Innovation Team (I-Team). The I-Team will involve enterprises, universities, and science parks in order to recognize and guide the supply and the demand concerning innovation, and it will develop a common language to be implemented through a 2.0 web-based IT platform.
When compared to the services already offered by other universities, the difference lies in the Innovation Team’s being formed by people who work in universities and by people do other job, so they all bring their integrated competences. The IT will be asked to feed the virtuous process that generates innovation, by building a network of dynamic partners that favours knowledge sharing among universities and organizations, and stimulates the production of new ideas and of new businesses, or university spin-offs.
The team will provide strategic support, technical and advisory services also by means of an IT platform based on the latest generation research engine (WB 2.0), to be used to test the case-studies taken from two manufacturing districts in the Veneto: the Metadistrict for the environment and for sustainable development (METAS) and the Metadistrict of the Veneto Region for the Cultural Heritage (BBCC).
As far as the creation of new businesses is concerned, the project will stimulate the supply of services in order to help entrepreneurs create and develop new businesses.
The project is to launch some initiatives that facilitate the transfer of knowledge, and of scientific and technological knowledge in particular, from Universities and big companies to the SMEs operating in the territory of Venice and of the Veneto region.
This project will implement new services addressed to the SMEs of the Veneto. During the experimentation phase it will address the businesses focussed on the environment and the cultural heritage; later the Innovation Team will extend its service provision to the 3,600 businesses in the manufacturing districts sponsored by the Science and Technology Park, and to the partner and affiliated companies to VEGA. This project will prove extremely useful for the 200 companies settled in the Park.
The project development and its related service provision by all the project partners together will imply:
- an extension of engineering and technological transfer activities;
- direct comparison between the entrepreneurial world and universities through the interdisciplinary approach of the I-Team and of the partners;
- the creation of a single IT tool that matches supply and demand for innovation, led by a team skilled in innovation issues and able to promote the market of innovation and technological transfer, and to solve the real issues that companies must face on this territory.
The overall cost of the MAIN REIM project is of € 721.250,00; the Veneto region was allocated funds for € 312,835.00 in compliance with the regional law 9/2007.
The project was started in February 8, 2010 and its term was set at 24 months.
